Ancient Atlantic Island

The History of the Incas, written in Cuzco (Peru), the capital of the Inca Empire, just forty years after the arrival of the first Spaniards in the city is a precious record of the transition from Inca to colonial culture. At the time, framing the Islands of the Americas, which became the continents of the Americas, in the context of world history naturally brought forth Plato’s Atlantis as possible stepping stone between the old and the new worlds.  The various legends, including that of Quetzalcoatl, which speak of bringers of civilization from beyond the sea, is an echo of these Atlantean ideas.
